Sally Liu, MS
Sally Liu, MS, is a Master of Education student studying Community Nutrition Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She will soon be eligible to become a registered dietitian.
Her curiosity about the relationship between diet and overall health led her to pursue a Master of Science degree at Columbia University’s Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN). During the program, her work consistently highlighted the significant impact of food choices on the risk of developing chronic diseases. She is especially interested in contributing to research and evidence-based strategies that address the growing health challenges linked to ultra-processed foods.
She is passionate about chronic disease prevention and promoting healthy eating habits through engaging, accessible content. With experience in research and content creation, she has enjoyed translating complex health information into social media posts that resonate with diverse audiences. She is especially driven by the opportunity to use digital strategy to improve people’s quality of life through simple, evidence-based messages.
She is particularly interested in exploring how ultra-processed foods (UPFs) influence chronic health conditions. In the 21st century, UPFs have become a major part of almost everyone’s diet—from baby food to flavored yogurt, and from baked goods to frozen pizza—making them difficult to avoid. Through her work, she aims to raise awareness and support behavior change by creating content that empowers individuals to make informed dietary choices. She looks forward to continuing her growth through the Non-UPF Program and applying her academic knowledge in real-world, digitally focused initiatives.
