Kelly Burgess, MBA, RD, LDN

Kelly Burgess, MBA, RD, LDN brings over four decades of combined expertise in clinical nutrition, education, and business innovation to the Non-UPF Program advisory board. She is the founder of To Better Health, LLC, a thriving nutrition counseling practice in New Jersey, where she delivers personalized, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy to clients of all ages. Her work spans chronic disease management, pregnancy, sports nutrition, and general wellness.

In 2024, Kelly launched BetterBites BetterLife, a groundbreaking mobile app that redefines nutrition tracking while keeping data private. Designed to go beyond calories, BetterBites BetterLife incorporates food quality with a focus on minimally processed whole foods, physical activity, sleep, stress, and environmental impact into one holistic tool for personal wellness. Rated 5 stars on the App Store and voted “Best Mobile App of the Year,” it reflects Kelly’s commitment to making science-based nutrition practical, personalized, and impactful.

As founder and CEO of To Better Health, LLC, Kelly has successfully built a strong brand presence both online and in the community. She leverages her marketing expertise to connect with diverse audiences through social media, media appearances, professional presentations, and strategic partnerships. Her ability to translate complex nutrition science into relatable, actionable messaging has helped expand her reach and elevate public understanding of holistic wellness.

A passionate educator and mentor, Kelly serves on the advisory board for the Department of Clinical and Preventive Nutrition Sciences at Rutgers University and precepts future dietitians in ambulatory care and diabetes rotations. She has taught nutrition and public health courses at La Salle University, Camden County College, and other institutions.

Kelly’s voice is also found in published works, including chapters in Cultural Encyclopedia of the Breast and Rape Cultures and Survivors: An International Perspective. She has been featured in the media for her deep knowledge and approachable style, earning recognition from Rutgers University and the New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which named her Dietitian of the Month in April 2025.

Her early passion for nutrition began in childhood and was shaped by a global upbringing in the Caribbean. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from Rutgers, an MBA from Penn State, and a B.S. in Hospitality Management.
